PCBSD là hệ điều hành trên nền tảng FreeBSD được phát triển cho dòng máy tính desktop. PCBSD là hệ điều hành mã nguồn mở, miễn phí dựa trên BSD lisence.


+ PCBSD cho phép người dùng khả năng "one click setup" bên cạnh việc hỗ trợ port system, packages manager, ... như trên FreeBSD.
+ Quá trình cài đặt PCBSD được graphic hóa, rất thuận tiện.
+ Kernel của PCBSD được biên dịch lại để phù hợp hơn với hệ thống desktop.
+ Phiên bản PCBSD hiện tại: 7.0 release mang tên Fibonacci edition kèm theo các gói: KDE4, Firefox 3.0.1, Open Office 2.4,...

Minimum system requirements:

* Pentium II or higher
* 256MB RAM
* 6GB of free Hard Drive space (Either partition, or entire disk)
* Network card
* Sound card

Recommended system requirements:

* Pentium 4 or higher
* 512MB of RAM
* 12GB of free Hard Drive space (Either partition, or entire disk)
* Network card
* Sound card
* 3D accelerated video card (NVIDIA or Intel)

PC-BSD can run on any of the following processors (providing the motherboard is recognised):

AMD Opteron, AMD Athlon, AMD Athlon XP, AMD Athlon 64, AMD Athlon 64 X2, AMD Athlon FX, AMD Duron, AMD Sempron, AMD Turion 64, AMD Turion 64 X2, Intel Pentium Pro, Intel Pentium II, Intel Pentium III, Intel Celeron, Intel Xeon, Intel Pentium 4, Intel Pentium M, Intel Pentium D, Intel Pentium Extreme Edition , Intel Core, Intel Core 2 Duo
